Panorama New York City ships female 1868 antique color lithograph print

$39.95

(as of Aug 27,2018 04:58:23 UTC – Details)

MANUAL of the CORPORATION of the CITY of NEW YORK 1868 (New York City) Printed New York: 1868. Fine original antique color lithographed view print, produced in the mid-19th century. This particular type of mid-19th century colored printing process is very time intensive and highly skilled, involving trained artisans, multiple inked stones and challenging hand operated machinery, all of which are now quite rare. Because of these and various other factors, it is essentially extinct as a method of reproducing images such as this one. An interesting and beautifully printed colorful paper artifact from a long past era. Printed on quality period paper which is lightly uniformly toned, may show typical gentle signs of age, perhaps some minor light spotting or foxing, yet still retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. An appealing, uncommon and interesting color lithographic image. In near Very Good or better antiquarian condition, mostly clean overall, light minor age dustiness or surface wear, trivial tiny spotting or light marginal dampstaining — please inspect enlargeable photo closely, any noteworthy flaws to the printed surface area should be noticeable within picture provided. In all, a fine printed image entirely worthy of ownership and display. [note: We grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws. We are doing our best to show & describe this item so you are happy when it arrives]. Despite any age flaws, the printed area remains visually pleasing, and the print is well preserved. Overall a nice impression of an original and interesting antique printed image that any collector, curator or institution would be happy to own or display. Sheet measures c. 5 3/8″ W x 8 1/2″ H.
