We live in an era of too much noise, too much clutter, too many choices, and too much spam. And as Seth Godin’s 200,000-copy bestseller Purple Cow taught the business world, the old ways of marketing simply don’t work anymore. The best way to sell anything these days is through word of mouth and the only real way to get word of mouth is to create something remarkable.

Free Prize Inside, the sequel to Purple Cow, explains how to do just that. It’s jammed with practical ideas you can use right now to make your product or service remarkable, so that it will virtually sell itself.

Remember when cereal came with a free prize inside? Even if you already liked the cereal, it was the little plastic toy that made it irresistible. Godin explains how you can think of a bonus that will make your customers feel just as excited, no matter what business you?re in. Consider these free prizes:

• The Tupperware party, which turned buying plastic bowls into a social event
• Flintstones vitamins, which turned a serious product into something fun
• The free change-counting machine at every Commerce Bank branch
• The little blue box from Tiffany, which makes people happy before they even open it

This book offers a way to create free prizes quickly, cheaply, and reliably and persuade others in your organization to help you bring them to life.

Six of Crows is a twisty and elegantly crafted masterpiece that thrilled me from the beginning to end.” –New York Times-bestselling author Holly Black

Six of Crows [is] one of those all-too-rare, unputdownable books that keeps your eyes glued to the page and your brain scrambling to figure out what’s going to happen next.” –Michael Dante DiMartino, co-creator of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra

“There’s conflict between morality and amorality and an appetite for sometimes grimace-inducing violence that recalls the Game of Thrones series. But for every bloody exchange there are pages of crackling dialogue and sumptuous description. Bardugo dives deep into this world, with full color and sound. If you’re not careful, it’ll steal all your time.” ―The New York Times Book Review

Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person

$16.99 - $10.87

(as of Dec 29,2018 18:56:03 UTC – Details)

The instant New York Times bestseller from the creator of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal and executive producer of How to Get Away With Murder shares how saying YES changed her life. “As fun to read as Rhimes’s TV series are to watch” (Los Angeles Times).

She’s the creator and producer of some of the most groundbreaking and audacious shows on television today. Her iconic characters live boldly and speak their minds. So who would suspect that Shonda Rhimes is an introvert? That she hired a publicist so she could avoid public appearances? That she suffered panic attacks before media interviews?

With three children at home and three hit television shows, it was easy for Shonda to say she was simply too busy. But in truth, she was also afraid. And then, over Thanksgiving dinner, her sister muttered something that was both a wake up and a call to arms: You never say yes to anything. Shonda knew she had to embrace the challenge: for one year, she would say YES to everything that scared her.

This poignant, intimate, and hilarious memoir explores Shonda’s life before her Year of Yes—from her nerdy, book-loving childhood to her devotion to creating television characters who reflected the world she saw around her. The book chronicles her life after her Year of Yes had begun—when Shonda forced herself out of the house and onto the stage; when she learned to explore, empower, applaud, and love her truest self. Yes.

“Honest, raw, and revelatory” (The Washington Post), this wildly candid and compulsively readable book reveals how the mega talented Shonda Rhimes finally achieved badassery worthy of a Shondaland character. Best of all, she “can help motivate even the most determined homebody to get out and try something new” (Chicago Tribune).Year of Yes How to Dance It Out Stand in the Sun and Be Your Own Person

Plan B

(as of Dec 14,2018 23:56:54 UTC – Details)

The roots of Bugzy date back to late-1983, when 19-year-old guitarist/vocalist William “Bugsy” Boyer, keyboard player Franki Gorgo, and drummer Bob Kimmel crossed paths as members of a full-time, internationally touring cover band called PENTAGON. By 1985, Bob and Franki had struck out to create their own original material in an attempt to sell songs to a major artist or publishing company. Initially still a member of Pentagon, Bugsy would join their sessions whenever his schedule allowed, but by 1988 the three had officially joined forces and fleshed out a lineup to begin performing live-“Bugzy” being the simple result of needing a name for their first gig. Within a year, a short-lived production deal with producer Tony Bongiovi led the group to record a few tracks in New York City’s historic Power Station studio; and in 1990, a production/management deal with L.A. record producer John Ryan (SANTANA, etc.) resulted in three years of nonstop work on new material with an assortment of session musicians. Into the mid-’90s, with the help of hit record producer Chris Lord-Alge, Bugzy was courted by no less than three major labels-RCA, Polygram, and EMI-but the trio’s decade of hard work would shockingly fail to yield the release of one single piece of music… … until now! 20+ years later, Divebomb Records is proud to shed light on Bugzy’s Plan B: 17 tracks of spectacularly catchy AOR/hard rock culled from the band’s extensive personal archives, and graciously rescued from permanent obscurity. Sure to delight diehard fans of heavy-hitters such as BAD ENGLISH, NIGHT RANGER, GIANT and THE HOOTERS; the collection also boasts an all-new 20 page booklet featuring band interview covering the ins and outs behind this prolific songwriting team. For the fans, by the fans! Divebomb Records Bootcamp Series is unearthing lost sessions, unreleased albums and long forgotten demos by unsung heroes of this scene’s past.
